Tuschinski Movie Theater | Rembrandtplein Area

The Tuschinski, now owned by Pathé Cinemas, is a movie theater originally exploited by Abraham Icek Tuschinski, who had it built in 1921 at a cost of € 2 mln, in a spectacular mix of styles: Amsterdam School, Jugendstil, Art Nouveau and Art Deco.

The facade, in its own style of Art Deco with oriental influences, was designed to help people get a feeling that they were being led into an illusion. Between 1998 to 2002 the theatre was renovated in its original style.

Next the normal programming, live broadcasts can be seen regularly of Opera from the Met in New York, the Bolshoi Ballet from Moskou and live registrations of pop concerts (previously e.g. Bon Jovi, The Prodigy, Foo Fighters, Faithless and Jamie Cullum).
