The gardens around Rijksmuseum | Museum District

The Rijksmuseum is one of the top attractions in Amsterdam, yet many visitors may overlook its gardens: beautifully cared for flowerbeds, fountains and summer houses, as well as a collection of sculptures.

And there's a curious collection of building fragments from all over the country: a collection of five centuries of Dutch architecture - everything from Gothic pillars from Edam to 17th century city gates from Deventer and Groningen.

Entrance to the garden is free.
