't Blauwe Theehuis | Vondelpark

The Blauwe Theehuis ("Blue Tea House") is a popular hangout in the Vondelpark. It looks a bit like a flying saucer: a ring shaped pavilion out of concrete and steel. Originally it was built as a tea house, nowadays it is a cafe/restaurant with a spacious area with outside seating.

The Blauwe Theehuis was built in 1937, after the original tea house burned down in the summer of 1936. The brothers Baanders designed the pavilion in the Modernist Nieuwe Bouwen style of architecture, a Dutch version of Bauhaus.
