Museum van Loon | Canal Area

In the heart of Amsterdam on the Keizersgracht stands one of the finest canal houses of the city. Here you can get a glimpse of the life of the Amsterdam Van Loon family. Willem van Loon was one of the co-founders of the Dutch East-India Company. The family opens their home and collection to the public.

This private residence was built in 1672 by the architect Adriaen Dortsman. Its first resident was painter Ferdinand Bol, a pupil of Rembrandt. The interior of the house remained largely intact over the centuries and still evokes the splendor of the Golden Age.
