Cafe 't Smalle | Jordaan

At this location distiller Hoppe started its business in 1780. Since 1978 it is the location for one of Amsterdam's nicest brown cafes. Many of the original details have been preserved, including the spiral staircase and the stained glass.

The cafe is popular for its range of special beers, great bites and lunch, the no-music policy and the terrace out on the canal. Unlike most bars, they have a wine list with excellent wines to chose from.

The special beers include "De Zatte," a local special beer, as well as a couple of Belgian ones.
